Discover the fascinating language and culture of the Philippines in a two-week intensive language course. Immerse yourself in the world of Tagalog, the diverse and vibrant language of the Philippines. From basic phrases to cultural intricacies, you will learn about the rich history and unique cultural and linguistic diversity of this Southeast Asian island nation.

You will learn the basics of Filipino, the official and national language of the Philippines, which is based on Tagalog. Additional cultural and culinary highlights will bring the Filipino lifestyle to life alongside six lessons a day using LSI's proven intensive course format. The course takes place on site in Bochum. The LSI has its own guesthouse where participants can stay during the course. Online participation is possible on request.

Learning goals

General learning objectives

At the end of the course, learners should be able to give information about themselves and their everyday world, communicate using very simple sentences, understand familiar words, names and simple sentences. This creates a fundamental basis for the further development of language skills.

Individual skills

Participation in conversations: Learners can communicate in a simple way when something is spoken more slowly, repeated or rephrased. They can ask and answer simple questions about familiar topics and things that are relevant to them.

Listening comprehension: Learners can understand familiar words and simple phrases relating to themselves, their family or specific things around them, provided they are spoken slowly and clearly.

Reading comprehension: They can understand simple, short texts.

Writing: Learners can write short messages to make agreements or exchange simple information.
